We had such an amazing time at this Pecan Grove Wedding, in Dripping Springs, TX! When we first met Lacey we fell in love. She is probably one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. We feel so lucky that our couples are so fantastic! Her and Justin had some of our favorite vendors there too. The stunning flowers were done by the amazing Beth Richard with Exquisite Petals. The fabulous coordinating with Joyful details, and the awesome videography by Stelly Weddings.
From start to finish this wedding was fantastic! Lacey’s dress was so soft and romantic and went together perfectly with her bridesmaids dresses and all their flowers. Once the ceremony ended it was a non stop party, and it isn’t a party unless Elvis makes an appearance. We hope you all enjoy their beautiful Wedding at Pecan Grove in Dripping Springs!
From the Bride:
“Justin & I met on a blind date at a concert at Nutty Brown Cafe. My friend from Austin High school, Katie Hammen, was dating Justin’s childhood friend Daniel Frazier. I met Daniel for the first time at our friend Sarah’s company party. Daniel happened to be wearing a pearl-snap shirt & at some point during the night I had ripped it open. (A habit I have with peal-snap shirts). After doing so, Daniel looked at me and asked, “Have you met my roommate Justin?” to which I responded, no. (Later I found out that Justin and his friends used to do the same thing to Daniel in high school). From that moment on, Daniel & Katie decided that they should set the two of us up on a blind date. The date was set to be on March, 31 2012 at Nutty Brown Cafe for a Randy Rogers concert. It was a triple date which helped to ease the awkwardness. I had no idea what to expect because I had never been on a blind date before, but after meeting Justin and exchanging a few words I could tell that I was in for something great. We just seemed to click and had a blast at the show. He finally worked up the courage (her words…not mine) to ask for my number two weeks later and we have been inseparable ever since. Justin & I always talk about how crazy it is that we met. We know that God had a plan all along and laugh at the fact that he chose to use two Aggies to bring a Baylor Bear & a Texas Longhorn together.
(Pecan Grove Wedding proposal)
We were driving back to Austin after spending a fun filled weekend in Dallas with our friends Kody & Moriah. I had been napping most of the way until Justin pulled off the road in Waco saying that we were low on gas and needed to refuel. Immediately I saw that we were near Baylor and asked if I could show him the campus, as I had asked nearly every time we passed through Waco on our way to/from Eustace or Arkansas. To my surprise, he said that we could park on campus and walk around since it was only4:00 and we were already halfway home. I was so excited because he had never wanted to stop before! We parked near the bear pit and I proceeded to give him a tour! We started with the bears of course and then proceeded down 5th street in front of the SUB. I pointed out the bench swing where as freshmen we were all told the legend that whoever you sat on the swing with would be the person that you married. He laughed and asked if I wanted to go sit on it, to which I said yes. So we went and sat on it for a little bit, talking and laughing about how every college campus has a silly spot like that. I stood up, eager to continue on with the tour, clueless to what was going on. As I turned around, I saw Justin down on his knee in front of the swing. He said some really sweet things and then said, “Let’s turn legend into reality” holding out the most beautiful ring I had ever seen. I was in shock!! I couldn’t believe it was happening… I hadn’t showered that morning, my nails were not done, and we were on Baylor campus – the last place I would’ve thought he would propose! I don’t really remember what I said or did because it is all a blur, but Justin says that I started laughing (very typical of me) and that he isn’t even sure whether or not I actually said YES!
Come to find out, that tour was not my idea at all…
Justin had done research about Baylor campus and all of the traditions and landmarks. He had about 5 different locations in mind of where he would do it – his plan was just to go with the flow and see where I took us. The bench swing was the first place we came to and I set everything up perfectly with my intro so he decided to go for it! I am really bad at ruining every surprise he has ever tried to do for me so he wanted to do it somewhere where I wouldn’t expect it at all. I thought I was the one in control since I was giving him the tour, but little did I know he had planned everything to go that way.”
We asked Lacey and Justin to tell about the Pecan Grove Wedding planning process. Here’s what they had to say!
We decided that we wanted to have a 6 month engagement if possible so our planning took off right away! We both wanted to have a fall wedding and the hunt was on to find a venue & vendors that could make that possible. Justin is from the country & very outdoorsy. I am a pink, lace & pearls type of girl – so our vision was to combine the two in some way. When we found the Pecan Grove venue – we knew it would be the perfect place for our wedding. We wanted to have an outdoor ceremony – and the pecan trees and scene in driftwood was beautiful. Justin loved the rustic feel of the reception hall & the fact that Salt Lick would cater the BBQ was a huge deal to him! We were so lucky that they had a November weekend available & quickly signed the contract as soon as we could! After we had the venue locked in – I busily began searching online & reading reviews of every wedding vendor in Austin. I sent out tons of e-mails trying to narrow down who was actually available for our date – being only 6 months away we were pretty limited in who wasn’t already booked! From there – I read reviews, analyzed their work & talked in length with them in order to decide who would be perfect for us. I would ask the vendors that I already had booked who they recommended & that helped me find most of my vendors & made my decisions easier. The style that I told everyone we were going for was “rustic meets romance”. Our colors were Champagne, Gold, Pink & Cream. It was important to us that our wedding was pretty & elegant – yet laid back and fun! We didn’t use a wedding planner – I booked every vendor separately and prayed that it would all look good once put together – And it did! We did decide to hire a day of coordinator to make sure that the Wedding day flowed smoothly & to make the day as stress free for our parents!
Pecan Grove Wedding Groom’s Must have!
Justin’s #1 absolute must have would be the venue! That was the only thing that he really cared about. He had actually found Pecan Grove & insisted that we go view it! At first I was skeptical because there weren’t very many pictures on their web site of it. After our visit though, I had to admit that it was the perfect place & was way better for us than the other venues we had visited. He was also pumped that the food would be catered by Salt Lick 🙂
Pecan Grove Wedding Bride’s Must have!
My #1 absolute must have was the photography & video. The first vendor (after the venue) that I booked was our photographers! I knew that everything else would be over in one day – but the photographs & video would last a lifetime. So that is what I focused on the most! I cannot express how excited I was that Forever Photography was open for our date! The second vendor I booked was our videographer, Stelly Weddings! I was so pumped when I found out that Forever Photography had worked with StellyWeddings & highly recommended them. Those were my top priorities for vendors because they provided a service that would last forever 🙂
Other Pecan Grove Wedding Details:
Although we got married outside – it was important to us to have the traditional moment of the groom seeing the bride for the first time as she walked through the doors. So early on in the planning process we knew that we wanted to have standing doors as part of our ceremony! We found two 8’7.5 ft doors from England at a trade show and purchased them! They were already painted pink on one side & blue on the other. Justin made it his personal project to build a door frame & did an outstanding job! He said that the doors were his real wedding gift to me because he knew how much it meant to the both of us to have that moment of walking through doors & seeing each other for the first time! We plan to use the doors in our home 🙂
Pecan Grove Wedding DIY:
My mom did a lot of Do-It-Yourself projects for the wedding which really made the whole thing come together & was truly unique. She made a flower girl table that was absolutely beautiful. She also ordered & organized the candy bar using vintage pink depressed glass from her personal collection. The M&M’s had our faces, names & wedding date printed on them. She had printed numerous pictures of Justin & I from our childhoods and had them scattered on the tables. She also had pictures of my parents, grandparents, great grandparents wedding photos on display.
Macaroni Grill paper: A few days after Justin & I’s blind date – I went to dinner with my family at Macaroni Grill – and I told them all about the blind date and all about what I had liked about Justin. My mom wrote all of it down with a crayon, drawing different symbols to tell the story. She tore that section of the paper off before we left that night & saved it just in case the blind date actually turned into something. She said they just had a feeling that this was something different from the way I talked about him and the way I lit up – which is why she saved it. After I left dinner that night, I remember thinking to myself – “Man – that was really dumb” because Justin hadn’t even asked me for my number or anything yet – and I was NEVER one to tell my family about a guy, so I knew this could’ve been a huge mistake. Luckily though – it wasn’t and it did turn out to be something pretty amazing! My mom found the paper after being tucked away for a few years & had it framed for the wedding with a description telling our guests what it was.
