Fall Lost Mission Wedding Story:
Erin and Cole celebrated Thanksgiving 2014 with the Thornberry family in South Texas on Baffin Bay. Having much to be thankful for, Erin made sure to celebrate properly which resulted in her sleeping in the next morning, Friday, November 28th. Her sisters, Holly and Janna, and brother-in-law, Billy did not appreciate the late start to Erin’s day as they had been up since 7am and asked to disappear by Cole knowing this was the first step to get Erin by herself. It took persistence, talk of arrowheads, a little luck and Erin and Cole’s dog, Shiner, to somehow get Erin to agree to a five minute boat ride while she drank her morning coffee. Erin tried her hardest to convince Cole to take the shortest route just across the bay to an area on the King Ranch but Cole continued to ignore her and make up excuses as he had a set path and plan. Cole successfully made it to the Thornberry family’s favorite deserted spot, Sandy Hook, where they have enjoyed countless afternoons. Cole seemed overly enthusiastic to find “arrow heads” while Erin was devising a plan to get back to the house and relax. She thought if she made one large loop that it would suffice and they could leave. Not knowing she was walking in every direction except the one Cole was hoping for led to much anticipation for him. Finally Shiner, Cole, and Erin were on the “right” course. The right course to Erin being the path that led back to the boat and the right course to Cole being the path that led to the red box he half buried early that morning. As Erin approached the box she walked completely past it. Cole asked, “What is that?!” Erin turned and at first thought it was a kid’s toy, but once she realized it was a box she shouted, “Well pick it up!” As Cole picked up the box and opened it, Erin still had no clue what was going on until she noticed the note in Cole’s handwriting and a jewelry box inside the small chest. In that frozen moment, Cole reached into his pocket, grabbed the ring and went to one knee and asked Erin to marry him. Shocked, excited, and after two minutes of crying, Erin said YES!! Clear blue skies, the sound of waves and 70 degrees; they sat there on the beach in their perfect moment overwhelmed with excitement and love!! That Fridayevening they celebrated Thanksgiving again with the Thornberrys and, to Erin’s surprise, the Patchells as well and enjoyed a fantastic weekend on the bay #thornpatch style!
